Northwest
Portland Ministries volunteers help out five days a week at the Loaves
and Fishes senior meal site at First Immanuel Lutheran Church on NW
Irving Street between 18th and 19th avenues.
Anyone
over the age of 60, regardless of income, is invited to dine. The noon
meal supplies one-third to one-half of an older adult's daily nutrition
requirements. Each menu includes salad, entree, starch, vegetable, bread,
dessert, and beverage.
Meals are
provided on a donation basis to those age 60 and older. Recipients are
encouraged to donate toward the cost of their meals as they are able.
Transportation
assistance to the senior meal center site is available through the NWPM
transportation program.
Loaves
& Fishes Centers is a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization that
provides hot, nutritious meals to persons 60 years and older.
Our meal
site is a partnership between Loaves and Fishes, Northwest Portland
Ministries, First Immanuel Lutheran Church, and Friendly House Senior
Services.
Our volunteers
serve food, help with cleanup, and visit with the guests who come to
the center not only for food but for fellowship.
